Swiss Vote to Give Heroin to Addicts

Chalk this one up as yet another reason I’m glad to be an American:

In a stroke of brilliance Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved state sponsored heroin distribution to the exact group of people you don’t want to give heroin to… addicts. The vote keeps in place a government program intended to slowly ease addicts off of heroin.

The idiotic rehab technique is controversial at best with the United States and even the U.N. narcotics board claiming it may actually fuel drug abuse. Gee… ya think so?

I think the best part of this whole story, though, has to be the fact that the very same voters who want to give out free heroin voted to keep marijuana off limits. Can you say irony? Because, apparently, the 35 year old Swiss musician the AP quoted on this can’t:

“I think it’s very important to help these people, but not to facilitate the using of drugs,” Borer said. “You can just see in the Netherlands how it’s going. People just go there to smoke.”

Yea… giving heroin to addicts doesn’t facilitate their use of drugs at alllllllllll.

Associated Press Cites Cookie Success as Example of Obama’s Change

No… I couldn’t make this up if I tried:

Want an example of the change Barack Obama is bringing to the country? Check out cookie sales at Baby Boomers Cafe in Des Moines.

Yes… that’s right, not only is Obama our new savior but he is now our new Pillsbury Doughboy.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_I3br9m-68

Actually, judging by this comment from the owner of the cafe that Obama has shown his grace upon maybe he is a strange doughboy messiah combination, or, in other words, he is a savory savior:

“I think everybody just … thought, ‘Oh, great cookie, great president _ the world is a happy place. Barack’s going to fix all the problems and if I have a bite of this cookie it’s going to make me feel good,'”

Ann Coulter’s Jaw Wired Shut

Looks like the much maligned/adored Coulter had her jaw wired shut after a terrible fall. Predictably the liberal blog machine has reported on this story with unabated jubilation. Go ahead and check out the liberal blog-o-sphere (just be sure to get your rabies shots after wards).

Despite my distaste for about 95% of the things that come out of Ann’s mouth and despite my belief that the conservative movement would be far better off without people like her I still wish her a speedy recovery. And I would never wish something like this on her.

I hope you get well soon Ann but I won’t lie… I’m going to enjoy your silence.

UPDATE: Stop the ACLU cronicles some of the leftie bloggers reaction

UN Spends $23 Million to Paint a Ceiling

Yet another reason the UN should be dismantled and replaced with something better. Especially since this 23 Million dollar painting is on the ceiling of the room dedicated to the horribly weak and disgracefully mismanaged Human Rights Council.

Oh, and they used, at least, 633,000 dollars meant to help people who are starving and dying around the world.

But, hey, the ceiling is sort of pretty now… or something (pictures via Fox):

(There’s UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the far right)

But I guess the most disturbing part of this whole story has to be that this collection of colorful stalactites comes as a bargain when compared with the one BILLION dollar price tag for the proposed renovations to the UN’s European headquarters and the 1.9 BILLION dollar face lift being given to the UN’s offices in New York City.

Soros and Ayres behind the destruction of the University of California’s standards?

It looks like the main backers of the proposal to obliterate the University of California’s standards, The National Center for Fair and Open Testing, have close ties with some of the most radical men in America, George Soros and William Ayres.

Yes, that’s right, Soros and Ayres both actively fund the organization which is, according to my UC grad contact for this story, mainly responsible for trying to kill UC’s standards and by extension its respectability.

But nobody should be too shocked here as only people who believe absurd things could possibly be behind the absurd changes that have been proposed thus far. Changes that include:

1. Removing the SAT II subject test requirements because, get this, some applicants don’t know they are requirements for acceptance. I think former Congressman Doug Ose captured my reaction to this one the best when he said:

“This staggeringly simplistic rationale raises legitimate questions about the wisdom of the regents’ willingness to consider admitting to the UC system students who cannot understand the most fundamental step of entering college which is to apply for it.”

2. Lowering the minimum GPA requirement from 3.0 to 2.8 along with eliminating the SAT II subject test. Yet they still try and argue that this move is intended to bring in more qualified students than the current standards do… Who are they kidding?

3. And this is my favorite, removing the SAT II subject test as requirements in order to promote “diversity”, even though race-based admissions policies have been illegal in California since 1996, and despite the fact that most experts agree that the SAT II subject tests actually help minority students get into college because they allow them to showcase abilities that would otherwise go unnoticed. California Assemblyman Van Tran elaborates on this…

All of us who believe in quality education that is based on performance, and only performance, need to take a stand against this (further) cheapening of our valued institutions in higher education. We need to get involved and put pressure on the people considering these absurd proposals.

Visit saveucstandards.com to learn more about how you can stand up for what is right.

UPDATE: The Washington Examiner reports that UC will cut its enrollment by 10,000 students making the proposal to slash admission requirements all the more absurd.

Valerie Jarrett Named White House Senior Adviser

In what appears to be a bit of good news Barack Obama named Valerie Jarrett as the White House senior adviser.

Now, the reason this is good news has to do with the fact that Obama had previously wanted the absurdly unqualified yes-woman, Jarrett, to replace him in the Senate.

To give you an idea of what I mean when I say Unqualified yes-woman here is how The New Republic described her:

“Jarrett’s cardinal role on the Obama campaign is to serve as an extension of the candidate. She is Obama’s eyes and ears at meetings and events. When she speaks, it is in his voice. She is often the one to deliver harsh truths to Obama–and to others on his behalf. And, when there is courting of vital constituencies to be done, Jarrett is an undisputed master.”

So yea the whole “extension of the candidate” description doesn’t make me feel confident in her ability to object to a decision by Obama with which she disagrees. Oh and the fact that shes never been elected to public office, or even run for that matter, makes that unqualified lable stick.

But, hey… I guess it could be worse.

Good News: No Al Gore in Obama Administration

“Former Vice President Gore does not intend to seek or accept any formal position in government,” Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said. “He feels very strong right now that the best thing for him to do is to build support for the bold changes that we have to make to solve the climate crisis.”

Finally, some good news. Al Gore will not be the Climate Czar for the Obama administration.

Let me be the first to say Thank Goodness. I don’t think I could stand Al Gore becoming relevant again and, besides, Al Gore’s proficiency at producing boredom is far more deadly than all the world’s CO2 emissions. So the world is far better off if this dolt just fades back into bearded annonimity where he belongs.

Unfortunately, despite the absense of Al Gore, Obama is still planning on regulating us back to the stone age. In fact Obama’s transition chief John Podesta is calling for:

an Energy Security Council within the White House to oversee climate change and clean energy initiatives. The czar and the council would coordinate agencies, including the Energy and Interior departments and the Environmental Protection Agency.

So, yea, don’t down your anti-depresent dosage quite yet.

Farrakhan: Obama will bring a “New Beginning”

In fact, Farrakhan gave an entire speech about how Obama’s Presidency will bring a new beginning to America. According to a press release coming from the Nation of Islam he was scheduled to give his speech praising Obama today during the Mosque Maryam’s Sunday service.

Despite Farrakhan being a delusional nut job he still manages to stumble upon a decent point.

Obama will bring a new beginning and it will probably be the kind of beginning that Farrakhan, and other radicals, will rejoice over… but, Farrakhan does miss one thing, the kind of “new beginning” that he speaks of will only happen if Conservatives let it happen. It will only happen if we sit back and do nothing. It will only happen if we don’t fight hard enough. It will only happen if we don’t go all in to stop it.

So, clearly, we must do all we can to make sure a “new beginning” made in the image of Obama and praised by the likes of Louis Farrakhan never becomes reality.

I guess the only question left now is when will Bill Ayres or Rashid Khalidi make their celebration speeches?

UPDATE: Looks like Oprah and Father Pfleger have given their celebration speeches as well… (so does will.i.am)

And they wonder why they can’t win people over…

Seems the “NO ON PROP 8” supporters have been protesting and even fighting with police out in California. The protesters where disruptive enough that the Los Angeles Police Department had to declare a tactical alert which requires all available officers, including some from other precincts, to respond. Fox News even labeled it “rioting“, though that seems a bit excessive considering only a couple people were arrested and there doesn’t seem to be any property damage or injuries at this point… Here’s a link to the video, judge for yourself.

Either way this is pathetic on the part of the gay marriage proponents. I mean, when you throw tantrums and threaten people after you’ve lost an argument do you really think its going to change their mind?

P.s. Here’s a final thought… Now that we know what the gay marriage supporters will do after losing a ballot proposition, what do you think an Obama loss would have been like?

UPDATE: Malkin eventually picked up this story and has more details on the mayhem

UPDATE: Now they’re getting people fired simply for supporting Prop 8.

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: More details on the economic and personal aftermath associated with simply supporting Prop 8

Joe Biden is a whinny little girl…

Here’s more proof (via Malkin):

P.s. CBS 3 won’t post the video of the interview. I’m not surprised since, much like the rest of the MSM, they are complete hacks who consider journalistic integrity as a embarrassment… Absolutely pathetic.
