Good News: No Al Gore in Obama Administration

“Former Vice President Gore does not intend to seek or accept any formal position in government,” Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said. “He feels very strong right now that the best thing for him to do is to build support for the bold changes that we have to make to solve the climate crisis.”

Finally, some good news. Al Gore will not be the Climate Czar for the Obama administration.

Let me be the first to say Thank Goodness. I don’t think I could stand Al Gore becoming relevant again and, besides, Al Gore’s proficiency at producing boredom is far more deadly than all the world’s CO2 emissions. So the world is far better off if this dolt just fades back into bearded annonimity where he belongs.

Unfortunately, despite the absense of Al Gore, Obama is still planning on regulating us back to the stone age. In fact Obama’s transition chief John Podesta is calling for:

an Energy Security Council within the White House to oversee climate change and clean energy initiatives. The czar and the council would coordinate agencies, including the Energy and Interior departments and the Environmental Protection Agency.

So, yea, don’t down your anti-depresent dosage quite yet.

Forbes: Bailout Costs 5 Trillion… So Far

Yup… you read that right. 5 TRILLION dollars.

So far…

I recommend taking the time to go through and read every last detail in this article because there are little spending gems hidden throughout. Gems that you, most likely, wouldn’t hear about otherwise.

But the best part of this has to be the results… or, more accurately, the complete lack there of. After all lending between banks, which the government tells us is the most important problem, is still frozen even after interest rates have been cut by more than half. And it would appear the much touted bailout bill from October is nearly out of money to throw at the problem.

But, hey, take heart, the bottom is probably only another couple TRILLION taxpayer dollars away…

Farrakhan: Obama will bring a “New Beginning”

In fact, Farrakhan gave an entire speech about how Obama’s Presidency will bring a new beginning to America. According to a press release coming from the Nation of Islam he was scheduled to give his speech praising Obama today during the Mosque Maryam’s Sunday service.

Despite Farrakhan being a delusional nut job he still manages to stumble upon a decent point.

Obama will bring a new beginning and it will probably be the kind of beginning that Farrakhan, and other radicals, will rejoice over… but, Farrakhan does miss one thing, the kind of “new beginning” that he speaks of will only happen if Conservatives let it happen. It will only happen if we sit back and do nothing. It will only happen if we don’t fight hard enough. It will only happen if we don’t go all in to stop it.

So, clearly, we must do all we can to make sure a “new beginning” made in the image of Obama and praised by the likes of Louis Farrakhan never becomes reality.

I guess the only question left now is when will Bill Ayres or Rashid Khalidi make their celebration speeches?

McCain ahead in Ohio and Florida, gains in Colorado

McCain 49% and Obama 47% in Ohio

McCain up a point against Obama in Colorado since the 5th (still down by 4%)

Here’s the details

So lets stop all this idiotic panic please. I mean seriously, Obama is running in a dead give away Democrat year with about a 4:1 money advantage and McCain is still within the margin of error nationally and in most important states. Obama couldn’t be a weaker candidate…

It’s gonna be close, just like the past two elections. You know, ever since the current red/blue demographics were aligned. Seems to me that despite all the rhetoric about changing the dynamics the election is going to be won or lost in the same states as ’00 and ’04. And it will probably come down to each parties get out the vote operations, just like the past two elections.

So, really, the fact that McCain never fell more than, say, 8 points behind nationally (and I don’t even think it got that bad in most battleground states) at his worst and the fact that he is pretty much back to even now should make us all very happy. After all, who had the better GOTV operations in ’00 and ’04? And while Obama may have made up ground its still widely recognized that the GOP has much larger and better voter information databases.

Honestly, people, recent history tells us that McCain is in good shape. Heck I might even consider him the front runner at this point.

If McCain wins, thank Joe the plumber

Joe Wurzelbacher was made famous this week. He is the plumber who challenged Barack Obama’s tax plan on the streets of Toledo, Ohio and thereby incited the now famous “spread the wealth around” gaffe. According to the New York Times his name was mentioned an astounding two dozen times during the final presidential debate.

He has become a focal point, a symbol if you will, for all those who are skeptical of Barack Obama and his wealth redistributing tax policies. Joe the plumber pulled of a great feet. He managed to do something that John McCain and the entire republican party couldn’t manage.

Joe the plumber managed to catch Barack Obama off his guard and away from his Teleprompters. He managed to ask a poignant, unscripted, unexpected question to him. And most importantly he managed to get an unscripted, truthful, and revealing answer, an answer that has already changed the focus of the race. One that is negative for Obama, positive for McCain and easily sound-bite-able.

But perhaps his greatest feet was getting the media to pay attention to the negatives associated with Barack Obama’s tax plan. And that is something that John McCain could not do no matter how hard he tried. It took someone who is not rich and powerful. It required an “everyman” that would be hurt by that plan.

In other words, in order to poke holes in Obama’s tax plan the Republicans needed to show Americans who Obama wants to take money from. They needed someone that the middle class can relate to. They needed someone we could all connect with.

They got all of that in Joe the plumber. According to broadcasts on MSNBC, FOX NEWS, CNN, and several other media outlets Joe Wurzelbacher is someone who is representative of the middle class. He is a plumber. He has a child. He lives modestly in a small house in Toledo, Ohio. And, most importantly, he is working hard to achieve his dream of owning the plumbing company he now works for. He wants to do what he loves, earn what he’s worked for, and keep what he’s earned.

Joe is reaching for the American dream. That’s something that I think everyone can relate to. Certainly that is my hope and the entire reason I am giving four years of my life and more than a hundred thousand dollars of my money for additional schooling. Honestly, what other reason for attending a college is there?

And this really applies to everyone. I mean, Is your vision of your future all that different from Joe’s? Don’t you want to be successful? Don’t you want to determine what to do with your earnings, be it investing to build jobs or giving to charity or buying a home for your family and loved ones? I want what Joe the plumber wants and I think most of you do too.

So, while I may have a strong affinity for many of the principles John McCain espouses I can actually relate to the dreams, desires, and concerns that Joe the plumber has. I’m sure I’m not the only one either. If McCain wins he will owe a debt to Joe. A fruit basket is in order.

The Debate… Who cares?

Well, I guess a lot of people do (Malkin even called it “a historic night“).

But I don’t.

And, honestly, why should I? What purpose was there in watching that boring thing? I mean, come on, what was I going to learn from last nights debate that I didn’t already know? And even for uninformed people what was there to learn last night that you couldn’t have learned in a far more accurate way from either of the campaign websites or from any number of fact checking sites?

Don’t get me wrong, I love a gaffe as much as the next guy, and there were plenty to choose from last night. But let’s just take Obama’s Troop bracelet gaffe as an example, what does it show us that we didn’t already know? That Obama doesn’t really care about the troops all that much? Or maybe that they aren’t at the top of concerns?

OK, but didn’t we already know that? (I mean this guy’s whole campaign is centered around destroying what the troops have built)

Lets think about it another way… If Obama had been able to remember the name on the bracelet or if he knew the entire history of Sergeant Ryan David Jopeck and recited it to a T, would that mean that he really does care about the troops? Or that he puts the troops at the top of his list?

So, really, if we there isn’t anything to learn from the debate and the gaffe’s that come out of it are little more than pointless then what other reason could there be?

I guess I could watch if I wanted to get pissed off… I mean I saw about a five minute clip of the two of them talking about the economic crisis and it only served to piss me off. Seriously, when I heard Obama start talking about how deregulation is what caused the troubles we are facing I couldn’t help but yell at him.

“Deregulation, Obama? Are you kidding? Was it deregulation that created organisations to give people loans that clearly weren’t qualified for them and never would have received them otherwise? Was it deregulation that mandated financial institutes give the same clearly unqualified people loans? Thus creating a massive and seemingly unending housing boom which then lead to a plethora of bad investments, investments which were sold by the government as safe investments. No Obama it wasn’t deregulation, it was idiots like you.”

Then when McCain did nothing to refute Obama’s claims, and nearly repeated them, I had to just turn it off.

And, truthfully, after this charade I feel almost less informed and a little angry.

Huckabee to supporters: Palin pick “pleasant surprise”

Contrary to what others in the conservative community might think it seems that Mike Huckabee isn’t trying to fracture the party or “stir up the same sense of grievance among the Huckheads that finding out Hillary wasn’t vetted stirred up in the PUMAs” it seems that Mike Huckabee is actually quite happy with the VP choice.

Sarah Palin is a pleasant surprise for those of us who had hoped that Senator McCain would pick a principled and authentic conservative pro-life leader. Sarah Palin is both principled and authentic. As a Governor, she also brings an important balance of understanding of the critical domestic issues that is needed and that the Democrats have ignored with their ticket. Governor Palin is smart, authentic, tough, and a dynamic choice that will remind women that they are not welcome on the Democrat’s ticket, they have a place with Republicans.

Seems as though he, like pretty much all conservatives from Rush to Beck to Malkin (to me), is pretty taken by Palin and pretty pleased with McCain for picking her. Maybe this will make the “Romneyheads” back off Huckabee, then again probably not… But, hey, Huckabee probably won’t back off Romney anytime soon either.

Sarah Palin, The most experienced?

So, now that the pick is in, its time for the Democratic attacks to start…

What about Sarah Palin (who went to the University of Idaho) will they attack you ask? Well, as Ironic as it is, her inexperience…

That’s right, Barack Obama and his surrogates will attack Sarah Palin because she doesn’t have enough experience to lead… boy oh boy. Now, any sane person will surely see right through this pathetic tactic (seriously, couldn’t they come up with anything better?) but I figure why not examine it anyway?

Well, it is true that Sarah Palin has only been Governor of Alaska for a year and a half. However, as Barack Obama pointed out himself once, Obama actually has less on the job experience that Palin since he basically started campaigning for president immediately after being elected to the Senate.

But beside that point, there is a whole nother aspect to this whole “experience” debate… an aspect that Palin wins hands down (even when compared to McCain).

And that is the experience of running a government. Palin is the only one who has any executive experience. She is the only one knows what its like to be the one and only person in charge of making the important decisions (from all accounts they’ve been good decisions) and accepting responsibility for their consequences. Being an executive is most certainly a whole different experience from being a legislator.

Palin’s executive experience adds a lot to McCain’s ticket… not to mention the many other advantages she brings.

Good job McCain, you have seriously made a winning pick. I am impressed.
