Meghan McCain is a twit.

And I don’t mean that she uses twitter rather I mean that she is an imbecile. She does use twitter of course… though her latest post on The Daily Beast proves that she tweets the same way she blogs, cluelessly.

You see the main point of Meg’s latest work of genius is that some people following her on twitter are creepy, namely Karl Rove:

Karl Rove follows me on Twitter. That’s creepy. I joined Twitter a few months ago; so far, it has been a liberating way to transition from political to personal blogging. It’s allowed me to share the less serious aspects and humorously uncensored moments of my life. But there’s also been a downside: I am now being followed by Karl Rove, and my local sheriff, and God knows how many other political pundits. We need to take Twitter back from the creepy people.

On the surface, Karl Rove’s Twitter feed intrigues me. Here’s a guy who for years has been perceived as some kind of inaccessible man-behind-the-curtain figure. And now he Tweets numerous times a day. I’ve never met him in person, which only makes our Twitter relationship even weirder. And to be honest, I find Rove’s Tweets boring. Sometimes he takes questions; other times he talks about his appearances on cable news and other shows. But he doesn’t say anything substantive. If I had to guess, I’d say Rove has a “ghost Twitterer” (as in a ghost writer) or an assistant updating his feed for him.

I refuse to “script” who I am, what I say, and what I do. The only person Tweeting on my account is me. I don’t have an assistant, friend, or spokesperson updating my feed to “represent” me. (Seriously, would an assistant swear so much?) But this made me consider censoring myself. Who knows the next time The Huffington Post will have a slow news day and feel compelled to stick a headline next to a particularly unflattering photo of me? My Tweets are not sound bytes. Of course, I recognize I’m choosing to Tweet, but seriously, can’t journalists find something more important and useful to report?

The problem with what McCain wrote here, and well… everything she’s ever written, is that shes utterly uninformed about what she clearly thinks shes an expert in. And the annoying thing about what McCain wrote here, and well… everything she’s ever written, is that she’s so far off base one even the most basic aspects of what shes discussing that its just so damn tedious and time consuming to correct. For goodness sake its like trying to reason with a preschooler.

Lets just start with the basics. Now, I’ve only been tweeting for a short period of time, shorter than Meg in fact, but even I know that when somebody follows me on twitter, especially someone famous, it isn’t always because they’ve looked at my profile and thought I would be an interesting follow. Many people use the tactic that Rove is using in order to gain followers.

The idea behind it goes a little something like this: If I follow someone they are far more likely to follow me, therefore if I follow thousands of people I should get thousands of followers! Yay!

And from my experience, not only is this an excepted practice on twitter, its an incredibly popular practice. The fact that Meggy doesn’t realize this simple fact of twitter life is just absurd but the fact that she uses her own egregious misunderstanding to then critique Karl Rove is just insane.

But then she moves on to her highly regarded thoughtless opinion that Karl Rove is a boring follow because his tweets aren’t as super cool as hers. Uh… Megs maybe you should look at your twitter feed next to Rove’s, they’re practically identical. Random personal information that few people care about combined with various links to personal editorials and the occasional @ to another person. Neither of you are all that engaged with the twittermunity and neither of you add much to that community.

Though, and perhaps most ironically, Rove is actually far far more adapt to twitter. Hell… Rove even created his own fairly successful # or hashtag (a popular way of organizing conversations on twitter), #twitterivia, and Megsy apparently hasn’t even figured out what hashtags are. I bet she’s never even heard of #tcot, the most popular tag on all of twitter which stands for Top Conservatives On Twitter.

Then of course, beyond her stupidity with Rove, there’s her delusion that somehow tweets aren’t like public sound bites. Shes just like one of those idiots who tapes themselves committing a crime, posts it on youtube, and is then surprised when the police show up at their door. How can somebody at this point in time not realize that everything you post on twitter, youtube, facebook, myspace, blogger, and so on and so on is completely and utterly public unless you specifically designate it not to be. Meghan, if you don’t want people quoting your tweets than make them completely private and until then quit your absolutely idiotic bitching.

Actually… I have a better way to keep your tweets out of the spotlight. Stop trying to be a spokesperson for young republicans. Just stop. I’ve read the things you have to say and they’re so utterly devoid of thought and logic that it makes me laugh. But the laughing is short lived as a disturbing thought creeps into my mind, in many peoples mind I am associated with you.

The fact that the media has taken that silver spoon from your mouth and created a high profile platform with it means that they want to paint your incoherent ramblings as representative of “young Republicans”. That means, thanks to your incessant rantings, many people now assume I’m as dense as you.

Nearly everything you’ve said is incorrect and you will never speak for me or the vast majority of Republicans my age. And if you think I’m wrong or you’d like to challenge any of my assertions in this post then feel free to respond and I would most certainly be open to debating you in any venue on any issue at any time. Of course, you won’t accept but the offer stands regardless.
